A West Virginia man is in custody after a police chase on Wednesday.
Around 4:00 a.m., officers from the Montgomery and Smithers Police Departments attempted to stop a silver Ford F-150 for minor traffic violations, but when the officers attempted to stop this vehicle, Jackie Lee Danbury, of Fayette County sped off and began driving in an extremely reckless manner.
Officers say he stopped near Kanawha Falls and then ran into the woods. Fayette County Deputies brought in their bloodhound Dixie who found several prescription pills and a large amount of methamphetamine packaged for sale. Dixie found the suspect in the mud with debris and a backpack over his head.
After a brief struggle Danbury was arrested.
He will face charges of Obstructing an Officer, Battery on a Police Officer and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Driving Left of Center, Littering, Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Disregard for the Safety of Others, and Fleeing on Foot.
