A Moundsville Police officer alleged to have had an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl has resigned, according to the police chief.
MoundsVille Police Department Chief Tom Mitchell said officer Benjamin Davis resigned effective Feb. 6 as a member of the police department.
Davis was charged with two counts of third degree sexual assault and two counts of soliciting a minor, after an investigation by the West Virginia State Police found a possible relationship between Davis and an unidentified underage girl.
Authorities would not go into specifics of the relationship.
Davis has been on leave since the end of January.
