Nailers Announce Extensions to Team, Coach


 The Wheeling Nailers, hosted the 2014 State of the Team Event at Generations Restaurant & Pub on Wednesday night.

Wheeling Nailers Governor Don Rigby announced the franchise has agreed to a three-year extension with WesBanco Arena and the City of Wheeling. The deal guarantees that the Nailers will stay in Wheeling through the 2017-18 season.

Rigby also announced that Head Coach Clark Donatelli has received a three-year extension on his contract, which will carry him through the 2016-17 season. Donatelli currently ranks second in team history in wins as a head coach (96), trailing Doug Sauter, whose Wheeling Thunderbirds recorded 124 victories. Clark will tie Sauter for the most games coached in team history (200) on Opening Night.

Wheeling City Manager Robert Herron, announced the upcoming improvements set to happen at WesBanco Arena. Over the course of the next 18 months, the 37-year old facility will see changes to the entrance, seats, and scoreboard.

The Nailers begin their ECHL record 23rd season on Saturday, October 18th at 7:35 p.m.. against the Reading Royals.
