Nailers Coach Takes Leave of Absence


Wheeling Nailers Head Coach Dave Gove has taken a personal leave of absence from the team.

In the meanwhile, Assistant Coach Jeff Christian will take the reigns on an interim basis as the Nailers get ready to take on the Reading Royals in the second round of the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs.

According to team officials, there is no indication how long Gove will be on leave. 

Gove replaced former head coach Clark Donatelli and was name head coach of the Nailers on January 21, 2016.

Christian was drafted 23rd overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft and went on to play for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1996-1997.
