Nailers’ Winning Streak Snapped after 7-4 Loss against Elmira

The Nailers tried to stay hot on home ice Saturday night at Wesbanco Arena fresh off a 5-1 come-from-behind-win Friday night over Greenville.

Saturday the Elmira Jackals, the team Wheeling is fighting for the final playoff spot, came into town.

Elmira jumped out to an early lead after Kyle Stroh beat Franky Palazzese to get the Jackals out in front 1-0 in the first period.

Nailers though were able to tie it up, the shot on net was no good but Riley Brace would bank it in for the Wheeling goal to tie it up at 1.

Nailers would keep the momentum and take the lead, Danny Fick would hit a wrister from just inside the blue line for his 3rd goal of the season to make it a 2-1 Nailers lead after 1.

Elmira would knot things up in the 2nd period, Jacob McDonald would rocket a slap-shot past Franky to make it 2-2 at Wesbanco Arena.

Jackals would jump in front after another slap-shot from McDonald as he would light the lamp to make it 3-2 Elmira.

They go onto win 7-4 over the Nailers, McDonald had a hat trick for the Jackals.

The Nailers were also raising awareness for Breast Cancer with their special Pink the Rink jerseys.

Same two teams play in a Sunday matinee, puck drops at 4:05.
