Its an industry growing daily across the Ohio Valley and now the owners of natural gas companies are beginning to see record results.
Natural gas production in Ohio County alone has reportedly tripled in the last two years.
In 2012, Ohio County produced 2.7 billion cubic feet, but just two years later, they’re now reporting over 33.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas extraction.
Just down the road in Marshall, Wetzel, and Tyler Counties gas extraction is cranking out numbers hardly seen anywhere else in the country.
West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association Executive Director Corky Demarco says production numbers across the tri-state area are expected to increase even more in the coming years.
Demarco said a major expansion is expected when a liquefied natural gas export facility opens in Maryland in 2017.
