One local community organization is preparing for their annual Christmas Gift Distribution for a group of kids who are often overlooked this time of year.
As you head out this week to do your black Friday shopping, the Marshall County Family Resource Network is asking that you keep area teens in mind when you’re going for those extra special bargains on every day essentials at your favorite stores.
This holiday season they will assemble nearly 150 gift bags with merchandise valued at about $75 for teens in Marshall County. The purpose of the gift distribution is to provide teens with quality, practical gifts this season from body wash to toothpaste, and toothbrushes.
Items that are often overlooked by many gift givers for a group that usually falls in the shadows of people younger and older than they are, “We are providing them with a great gift, we’re making sure that we’re buying things that we would buy for ourselves,” Said Marshal County Family Resource Network Director, Stacie Dei.
“We buying things like Bath and Body lotion and body wash, we’re providing things like Crest toothpaste and toothbrushes and things like that. It’s important to think about the dignity of the human spirit and really what Christmas is about,” Dei added.
They are still in need of products though, if you would like to help out. They need things like mouthwash and other everyday essentials, that many of us might take for granted.
If you have a teen that attends Marshall County Schools and would like to have them added to the distribution list, you’re urged to contact the school’s guidance counselor. The deadline to get the list of names to the school is by December 2nd.
