New Drug Makes Its Way to the Ohio Valley

Authorities in Belmont County have made an arrest involving a new drug that has been discovered in the Ohio Valley, that is adding to our already intense drug problem.

Police arrested 55-year-old Terry Lee Francis while they executed a search warrant at 534 North 7th Street in Martins Ferry.

He’s now in the Belmont County Jail facing multiple drug charges.

The drug is an oil extract of marijuana that is turned into wax and then consumed by users. Police say this form is far more addictive and powerful than marijuana in its natural form.

This arrest is the result of investigations done by the Belmont County Drug Task Force.

“We go after absolutely everyone and hopefully we can build off of this investigation and go onto the next person that’s dealing or connected with them,” said John McFarland, Commander of the Belmont County Drug Task Force.

The drug task force also executed another search warrant at 2 West Street in Bridgeport, but an arrest was not made at that location.

Police are not releasing the name of that person as they continue their investigation.
