A new business has popped up at the site of the former Martins Ferry Dairy Queen.
Even though it’s chilly outside, The Twisted Cone offers much more than just ice cream. Owner Marlene Stobbs said they also offer homemade soups, hoagies, salads, personal pizzas, nachos and chili dogs with the actual sauce recipe from Coney Island.
They just opened in late October, and already customers have their favorites. “The favorite soup so far by the community’s choice is the broccoli cheese soup. And then we have a philly cheese steak hoagie that seems to be pretty popular of all the hoagies. And our gyro is getting a lot of recognition as well. And the pretzel dogs, they seem to be selling out all the time,” she said.
Despite the chilly weather, ice cream lovers still come in for their favorites. The Twisted Cone offers 20 Hershey’s ice cream flavors plus three United Dairy Soft Serve flavors.
They also offer shakes, cones, sundaes, splits and an item called The Twister that is comparable to a Blizzard.
Their fall and winter hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. They’ll expand their hours in the spring.
The Twisted Cone is located 1220 South Zane Highway.
