Some students in Ohio County are enjoying new spaces to learn and some comfortable new equipment that should also help in the learning process.
After receiving a $5,000 grant from the Center for Arts and Education, students at Madison Elementary now have exercise ball chairs and new desks. Special Education teacher Hillary Sayre said she is already seeing a difference in her students’ attitudes inside the classroom.
“I saw how much my kids liked to move and something that just needed to provide that support and a little easier on their bodies. I researched and tried to find grants so that I could get these exercise ball chairs,” said Sayre.
The new ball chairs also have a health benefit for the students, it makes it easier for them to sit up straight, helping their posture.
