The Ohio Department of Transportation said the Marion Street Bridge replacement project will start in earnest on Monday, following a number of small setbacks.

Several weeks ago, ODOT closed the eastbound off ramp, but on Monday, they’ll be  doing the other part, as well. That means drivers coming from Wheeling Island or Bridgeport will not be able to get on I-70 and go toward St. Clairsville. Drivers will have to take Route 40 as an alternate.

“Now granted, if it’s pouring down rain and we can’t paint, then we will not close. But we are ninety percent sure that we are going to have the weather to do this Monday and the westbound on ramp will close. The whole west half of Marion Street will close to be replaced,” Jim Graham with ODOT said.

People who need to go to Bridgeport can use Route 40, but truckers passing through the area are encouraged to stay off Route 40 and use I-470 instead.
