Friday is a big day for the “Friendly City” as Wheeling will swear in several new new leaders, including the 53rd Mayor, Glenn Elliott Jr.
Elliott was born and raised in Wheeling before eventually going to law school and working in Washington D.C.
In 2008 he moved back to his hometown and has been working to improve the city since then.
He will be sworn in with six new council members in Chad Thalman, Ken Imer, Brian Wilson, Wendy Scatterday, Ty Thorngate, and Dave Palmer.
A ceremony is planned for Friday morning at 11:30 inside the Capital Theater with an outdoor reception to follow.
