After a 2-year-old’s dad died as a result of a bad car accident, one Colorado officer’s fatherly instincts kicked into gear to protect her.
Although it was an absolutely terrible scene, the photograph snapped of Brighton officer Nick Struck comforting and distracting a 2-year-old little girl was a precious moment.
According to KDVR-TV in Denver, Struck was one of the officers who responded to an accident that killed the 2-year-old’s father and injured her mother and three siblings. The 2-year-old little girl wasn’t hurt.
Paramedics handed Struck the toddler who said she was crying and smelled of gasoline. Struck is also the father to a 2-year-old girl, so while holding the toddler he thought of what makes his own daughter happy when she is sad.
“My daughter, who’s the sweetest thing in the world, when she falls and cries, she wants ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ sung to her,” he said.
So that’s the song he started singing to the young accident victim, pointing to the flashing lights of the fire truck, according to KDVR.
Jessica Matrious, who saw the accident happen and stopped to help, snapped the photo of Officer Struck and the young girl.
