Officers Arrest Steel Thieves Returning to Scene of the Crime

 Two people have been arrested for allegedly stealing nearly $100,000 worth of steel from the Minova Building in Bowerston, Ohio.

On March 17, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call that some steel valued at $94,000, was stolen from behind the property.

About 2 a.m. on March 18, while on patrol a unit noticed a white pickup truck pull in behind the Minova Company and turn the head lights off. 

Officers arrested John Gudnason, 39 of Wheeling, WV and Dustin Staff, 24 of Martins Ferry, OH for aggravated trespassing. Gudnason was also charged with OVI.

Further investigation revealed Gudnason and Staff had stolen the steel and sold it to scrap yards in Martins Ferry, OH and Wheeling, WV, according to a news release.
