A severe case of animal cruelty is being investigated in Weirton after a family dog was attacked Monday night.

Larissa Stewart was inside her daughter’s home when she heard a loud noise. She says sounded like a grown man yelling. Upon investigating she found out it was their dog Moose instead.

A local veteran had to put 13 staples outside of Moose’s jaw to close the wound. The official doctor’s report stated he was “shot with a broad-head hunting arrow.”

Now Stewart has been calling police for help but hasn’t heard anything since talking to them early this morning. She says all she wants is justice, but that it hasn’t come easy.

The Weirton Dog Warden was with her for most of the night and now has the arrow that punctured Moose.

According to Stewart, Moose is expected to make a full recovery, but in her eyes this was no accident.

We contacted Weirton Police and they are investigating the incident.
