The Belmont County Sheriff Department needs your help as they investigate a rash of counterfeit $20 bills that were used this past weekend.

They are looking two males and two females who allegedly passed off fake $20 bills at eight different businesses near the Ohio Valley Mall.

“They are more apt to moving the twenty dollar bills than the bigger bills. They know the stores are going to check the bigger bills so they go back to the twenties,” said Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas.

Sheriff Lucas says the detail on most counterfeit bills make them almost impossible to detect with the human eye, so businesses should use other methods of testing the bills.

If anyone has any information on the identity of any of the people they are urged to contact the Sheriff Department or our anonymous Lauttamus Security Crime Fighters tip line at 1-800-223-0312.
