Officials with Oglebay Park have unveiled a new adventurous activity for your whole family to enjoy.
Oglebay Park now has an “Aerial Challenge Course” and it’s there to test your agility and your ability for all adventure seekers. The course is situated in the treetops in the former snake pit from the old zoo.
“We wanted to have a course that was in the trees that really gave you that natural element and also provides great shade in the summer time and makes it more enjoyable for our guests,” said Oglebay Park Sports and Recreational Manager, Charles Griffith.
After listening to feedback from their guests, officials with the park realized they needed to develop something new.
“We don’t have a whole lot to do for teens and tweens, this activity here is going to appeal to all ages,” Griffith added.
If you’re worried about safety, that is their number one priority. “We have a supervisor go up on the course an hour before it opens, just to walk through and make sure everything is fine with the course from the night before,” said Griffith.
The location of the course will also bring back some fond memories for some of you. “There’s a lot of great memories from people who are older than me that used to come here when this area behind me was the snake pit for the zoo,” Griffith concluded.
The Aerial Challenge Course welcomes the whole family, for anyone four and older and they offer a safety information course before each tour.
The hours of operation are Fridays 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays Noon to 4 p.m.
It will be open year-round, weather permitting.
?The cost of admission is $15 to make your way through the challenge by choice course, that has different levels of intensity depending on your individual comfort level.
