Ohio Congressman Learns More About Life-Saving Flights

Timing is the most important issue for STAT MedEvac pilots when it comes to saving lives.

On Thursday Ohio Congressman Bill Johnson paid a visit to their facility in Wintersville, to learn the importance of keeping their skills and technology up to date.

“This is critically important to people who live here in Appalachia Ohio, many of them live in areas that don’t have immediate access to trauma centers,” added Congressman Bill Johnson.

After flying more than 500 trips a year, STAT MedEvac officials are now urging Congressman Johnson to push House Resolution 822 which is designed to reform Medicare payments for patients flown by medical helicopters.

HR-822 will build a payment system based upon actual cost data to ensure access to health care for 80 million Americans who can only access Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Centers, within an hour, through the use of Emergency Medical Services helicopters.

“When life is at stake time counts and these people provide a very valuable service,” added the Congressman.
