It is pretty common to know someone dealing with cancer. That is why students and staff at two local schools have decided to give back to those effected by the disease.
Students and staff at Bethlehem and West Liberty Elementary schools have been raising money to buy gas cards in order to help cancer patients get to and from their treatments. They say the program is only in its second year but has grown.
“I think we have surpassed last year. Last year Marathon matched our donation with double the gas cards so we ended up giving away 80 gas cards. But this year we have already surpassed that,” said Principal Stacy Greer.
Tri-State Petroleum has stepped up and will match their donations.
