The Ohio County Election Office was a busy place Monday, as the county commission and staff members conducted the official vote canvass from last Tuesday’s election.
According to election officials, many voters ended up casting their ballots in the wrong precincts, after moving across town and failing to do a change-of-address with the election office. The canvass process took most of the day.
In the end, all election results remained the same, and that was good news for Shawn Fluharty, who is now on his way to the House of Delegates.
Elections Coordinator Toni Chieffalo urges voters to check with her office before Election Day, to determine exactly what precinct they should vote in. She said unfortunately some votes are thrown out because people are unaware of their voting status.
