As doctors and other health care professionals discuss how Americans have an obesity epidemic, local tennis enthusiasts hope to promote their solution to the problem.
The Wheeling-Oglebay Tennis Club purchased $5,000 of new tennis gear for all nine elementary schools in Ohio County.
On Thursday they focused on showing teachers the game, with hopes they’ll inspire tomorrow’s tennis players.
Debbie Pickens, President of the Wheeling-Oglebay Tennis Club told WTRF.com, “they have all these different games to make it fun to learn to play tennis. You hope the kids want to continue to play tennis in the area.”
A United States Tennis Association representative taught the in-service for teachers.
Additional educators from West Liberty University and Bethany College for later-blooming athletes.
