The annual Ohio Valley Heart Walk for the American Heart Association was held at Heritage Port Saturday.
The Heart Walk is one of the American Heart Association’s most important fundraisers. It also serves as an awareness event, working to bring attention to the number 1 and number 5 killers of Americans heart disease and stroke. Organizers said they love this event because it gets people active in a fun way.
“Today’s a day where the Ohio Valley can really come together and celebrate life. We’re remember those we have lost due to heart disease or stroke, but also celebrating all of our survivors. We’re kind of working towards a goal to make a healthier community,” said Valerie Piko, Division Director, American Heart Association.
There are over 300 Heart Walks across the United States. The fundraising goal for this year’s Ohio Valley Heart Walk is $65,000. WTRF is a proud sponsor of this event.
