One local group is encouraging those in the community that are struggling or have friends and family who are struggling with addiction to come to their free event this Saturday.
Through a grant given by ArcelorMittal, Weirton-based group, Never Alone West Virginia will host keynote speaker Senator Jeff Kessler, who will talk about his own son’s and family’s struggle with addiction.
They hope his willingness to share will bring others out of hiding.
“When you close it off, and you stay in the house, and you don’t let others know that you’re struggling, it makes it feel like you are alone. I think if you reach out to others, it makes it better,” said Patti Barnabei, Founder of Never Alone.
Also at the event will be musical entertainment by the Chrisagis Brothers, speakers from other parts of the state, and a Q and A session.
Again, the event is this Saturday at the Millsop Community Center in Weirton, starting at 2:30.
The event is free and open to the public.
