Three more people have turned themselves into police.
Weirton Police said the three who surrendered early Wednesday morning were wanted on charges of sexual assault to fugitive warrants.
Nearly 20 criminals are off the streets after a drug sweep in one local community.
Weirton Police arrested 19 people as part a crime sweep that authorities are calling Operation Grinch.
The Weirton Police Department with help from the Hancock County Sheriff and the drug task force rounded up the 19 Tuesday throughout the Ohio Valley.
Chief Rob Alexander says the majority of the arrests were for drugs or break-ins due to drugs. He says the sweep should help everyone in Weirton feel safe this holiday season.
“It’s Christmas time, we want to relax, the people want to relax,” said Alexander. “Everybody wants this community free of all this and be able to go to bed and not worry about your shed getting broken into, or your car getting broken into, or your house getting broken into or your business getting broken into.”
Seven of the people arrested were transported to the Northern Regional Jail while the rest posted bond. Half a dozen people were contacted by the police as part of Operation Grinch and will turn themselves in later.
