The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident in Belmont County on Interstate 70.
In a release, OSHP says the accident happened around 10:30 Wednesday night near exit 216.
Troopers responded to reports that a vehicle had gone off the south side of the highway and was on fire. Troopers arrived on scene and found a tractor trailer fully engulfed in flames. Fire fighters from Cumberland Trail, Belmont and Lafferty fire Departments arrived on scene to put the fire out.
OSHP determined the truck was headed eastbound when it drove off the road, through a guardrail, over a steep embankment and into a ravine then caught on fire.
The driver, Pergut Singh, 36, of Noblesville, Indiana was the only person in the truck and died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
