Paden City Police Sergeant Demoted for ‘Unbecoming Conduct’

A sergeant with the Paden City Police Department has been demoted.

According to Mayor Joel Davis, Josh Helmick has lost his position as sergeant and was demoted to officer, after city council determined he has displayed conduct unbecoming of a sergeant.

With that demotion comes a decrease in pay by a dollar per hour. Those actions are not being released at this time.

Officer Helmick is also being investigated for a photo scandal, which is being referred to as a personal matter.

Helmick has been with the Paden City Police Department for a little under two years.
