Planning a one-year-old’s birthday party is a very exciting time. It is a time for family members to get together to celebrate the baby’s first birthday by showering him or her with love and gifts.

However, what happens when the parents put some restrictions and rules on what family members can and cannot buy for the child?

Imgur user razz32 uploaded an email a set of parents sent out to their family members regarding their one-year-old’s birthday party. The email, which has over 2 million views, caused some controversy because some viewers found the parents too demanding and controlling.

In the detailed email, the parents provided both sides of their families with separate lists including links to the exact gifts they wanted the families to purchase for their child. They also put a limit on gifts per household and regulated who they wanted to receive gifts from.

The parents even went as far to note if the family members buy something not on the list, to make sure the receipt is included so when they return the gift, they get a full refund. The parents noted, “when we return items without receipts, we only get 50% of the value, so it is like throwing away money if you don’t include a receipt with the gifts.”

The email has gone viral in the past few days as viewers all over are giving their opinions for or against these parents.
