Park Board to Look Over Designs for Lodging at Brooke Hills Park

Submissions have been pouring in from potential contractors looking to put their name on a proposed lodge at Brooke Hills Park.

Since announcing the possibility of adding lodging to the Brooke County park, dozens of contractors have submitted proposals that will be the topic of conversation at a public meeting on Thursday evening.

All of the contractors have submitted proposals that have identified the demand for lodging and if there is a demand, where the lodge should be situated in the park. They also are drawing up proposals of what the lodge should look like.

“If demand wasn’t there, if interest wasn’t there, if commitment by brooke hills park board and brooke county commission wasn’t there I don’t think we would’ve seen the response and solicitation like we have,” said Pat Ford, Director of the Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle.

Ford said the contracts have come  from all over the country, from different states and regions. Each one, he said, possesses a different set of skills and disciplines that he thinks will help the board make a decision.

During the Thursday night meeting, the Park Board will review the proposals and limit down to three to five consultants they would like to bring in for an interview.

Ford expects a consultant to be selected in January.
