CLEVELAND (AP) – Cleveland police say a passenger train struck a car that had run out of gas and was stopped on the tracks, but no injuries were reported.

WEWS-TV (http://bit.ly/1OuAeQy ) reports the driver told police the car ran out of fuel as he was crossing the tracks, and he was able to escape the vehicle before the Amtrak train struck. The collision around 2 a.m. Monday left the car wedged under the train until a tow truck was able to remove it.

The train had been headed to Pittsburgh, where it was supposed to arrive later Monday morning. A rail crew arrived shortly after the collision to inspect the track and help get the train travelers on their way.
