Pennsylvania State Police Surround Home, In Search of Murder Suspect

The Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed they have surrounded the house that belonged to Carolyn Marry Kern. Kern was found shot to death in her car on McNeeley road near the Brooke County/Pennsylvania state line.

Her husband, Dennis Kern, 62, was named a person of interest. He is described as a white male, 62-years-old, 5’10”, with short light hair and brown eyes.

According to our CBS affiliate KDKA, movement was spotted inside of the victim’s home on Browntown Road in Avella, which prompted police to surround the house.

Authorities have reported that they are currently searching for a vehicle that may be associated with the death of a woman near the Brooke County line.

Police are on the lookout for a dark gray single cab 2013 Chevrolet Silverado with tinted windows, and Pennsylvania license plate YTN7799.

The person of interest is Dennis Kern.

Kern is a white male, 62-years-old, 5’10”, with short light hair and brown eyes.

The Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a silver 2013 Chevrolet truck after a woman was found shot to death in the Eldersville area of Washington County, near the Brooke County line.

Carolyn Marry Kern, of Avella, PA, was found dead inside her vehicle on McNeely Road with gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced dead around 1:54 p.m., Tuesday.

Police believe the driver of the truck is armed with a shotgun.

The investigation is ongoing.
