Plans Unveiled for 10th Annual Cancer Research Classic

Details for the 10th Annual Cancer Research Classic at Wheeling Jesuit University were announced Wednesday afternoon at Wheeling Hospital. 

The tournament will once again bring in the best high school teams and players from all over the country on January 6th and 7th.  For the 6th straight year , the games will be broadcast by ESPN and the tournament will once again include both Wheeling Park and Wheeling Central along with several other teams.

While the weekend is largely about basketball– it has a deeper cause, as well,  “Our mission is to promote men’s health and we strongly believe that sports, and in particular, basketball, is a way to increase men’s attention to their overall health needs,” said tournament director, Dr. Gregory Merrick.

One of the top games nationwide in high school basketball will be played during the C-R-C between La Lumiere and Findlay Prep on Friday night.  Overall, 23 C-R-C alumni are playing in the NBA.
