Two people are facing drug-related charges after being arrested in Weirton on Wednesday.
Police say Elizabeth Crowe and Michael Baer were arrested after drug paraphernalia, baggies, and scales were found at their home on Orchard Street.
Although two-and-a-half ounces is not considered to be an excessive amount, it was how police found it that is unique.
“The Street Crimes Unit had received some credible information about a package being delivered from California here to Weirton. The package was intercepted at our local post office here with cooperation from our post office and the Jefferson County drug task force,” said Weirton Police Chief Rob Alexander.
Police currently have warrants to go through Crowe and Bear’s phones as they try to determine why they were bringing in the marijuana all the way from California.
Crowe faces a possession of marijuana charge and Baer faces a possession of marijuana with intent to distribute charge.
