Police have arrested a man they say set four cars on fire overnight in Weirton.
According to police, 33-year-old Keefe Rogers confessed to the Three Spring Drive arson spree.
Police say Rogers set fire to cars at Mark John’s Auto, K-Mart, and Advanced Auto Parts around 2:00 a.m.
They eventually caught up with Rogers very close to the scene in the Kroger parking lot.
When questioning him, that’s when they say he confessed, and he was taken into custody.
No one was injured, but police say this could have been worse.
“For a prime example, was the one car lot. You set one vehicle on fire which subsequently set another vehicle on fire, and now you’re next to a bank. You’re next to Gabriel’s. You’re next to different businesses, which can lead to houses and so on and so forth. The whole thing is horrible. It won’t be tolerated,” said Chief Rob Alexander.
Chief Alexander adds that they have had a few calls on Rogers in recent weeks about loitering and other suspicious activity.
