A Pennsylvania man is facing charges after police discover drugs during a traffic stop in Monroe County.
Police say Richard Kelly Jr. of Central City, PA, was noticed speeding Sunday at 3:30 p.m. on Route 7, south of Clarington.
According to police, Kelly Jr. was clocked going 94 in a 55 mph zone and was then pulled over. Monroe County K9, Nemo alerted police to drugs inside the vehicle where police say suboxin, heroin and cash were found.
According to Monroe County Sheriff Charles Black, Kelly Jr later admitted there were more drugs in his room at the Budget Inn in New Martinsville, where he is living with his girlfriend and their two children.
New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil says police went to the motel room where they found heroin, suboxin, three needles loaded and ready, plus a large quantity of Xanax.
Charges are pending in New Martinsville against both Kelly Jr. and girlfriend.
The girlfriend wasn’t in the room at time of raid but has since turned herself in at the New Martinsville Police Department.
Kelly is being held in the Jefferson County Jail since Monroe County has no jail.
