Wheeling Police have identified the body found under the Fort Henry Bridge last week as the missing Moundsville teen, 15, Kyle Jerry Dale Morgan.
According to Wheeling Police, the case is being ruled a homicide with the cause of death is blunt force trauma.
Wheeling Police Chief Shawn Schwertfeger says that they have been working with Moundsville Police since the beginning of their investigation regarding a connection.
Officials say they knew the body found was a young person but Morgan was originally reported to have been seen on Thursday, ruling him out of the Fort Henry case.
Wheeling Police believe Morgan died at the Fort Henry Bridge and was not transported there.
“We’re very interested in attempting to close a window of time of roughly 15 hours which is the time that Kyle Morgan was last seen in Moundsville and his body being discovered last Thursday under the Fort Henry Bridge,” said Chief Schwertfeger.
Morgan was a student at John Marshall High School.
If you think you have any information about the hours leading up to Morgan’s disappearance you’re urged to contact Wheeling Police or our Lauttamus Security CrimeFighters tip line at 1-800-223-0312. All calls remain confidential.
