Police are investigating a double murder after responding to a call that two people had been shot and killed at a home on Garrett Hill Road in Glencoe, Monday night.

Sheriff’s deputies determined that LouAnn Barton, 45 and Okie Barton Jr., 48, had been shot and killed.

According to police, the person who contacted 911 was their 18-year-old son, Okie Barton III.

Police say after a review of the crime scene and a review of the initial 911 call the son made, Okie Barton III was identified as a suspect and arrested for two counts of Aggravated Murder.

Authorities are being very careful with the details they release, as this is still an ongoing investigation and it’s a situation that has rattle the small community in Belmont County.

“Two lives were lost here. It was a very sad night and tragedy for the family, plus also, a third member the 18-year-old is arrested and in jail, so it’s a very sad day for Belmont County and the community and the family and my condolences go out to them,” said Belmont County Sheriff, Dave Lucas.

Sheriff Lucas says his office is not releasing a motive in this case. Investigators remained on scene into the early morning hours.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigations was called in to assist the Belmont County Major Crimes Unit in their efforts last night.
