Police in one local city responded to two shots fired calls only blocks apart in the span of an hour, but believe that they are not related to each other.
Steubenville Police Officers first responded to the 900 block of Sherman Avenue around 10 a.m. on Sunday where residents say they heard at least five gun shots and saw a black car speeding away. Officers found five spent shell casings on the street but no damage could be seen.
About an hour and a half later, officers received another call in regards to shots fired at North 5th and Ross Streets, which is about three blocks from Sherman Avenue.
Officers says four vehicles were hit by the gunfire and a total of eight shell casings were found in the 600 and 700 block of North 5th Street.
Officers tried to follow footprints going towards an alley but lost track due to the melting snow.
The investigation is continuing with officers searching for suspects. Right now, they believe the two incidents are unrelated.
