Police Recover Large Amount of Marijuana Near School in St. Clairsville


 Local law enforcement recovered a large amount of marijuana, marijuana wax, 2 handguns, nearly $3,000 in cash, and drug paraphernalia from a home near St. Clairsville High School.

The Belmont County Major Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence on Woodrow Avenue, on Saturday.

According to police, Sarah Williams, of St. Clairsville, and Joshua Smerczinski, of Colorado are charged with trafficking marijuana in the vicinity of a school, Mark Williams, of St. Clairsville, and Mary Williams of St. Clarisville are charged with complicity of trafficking marijuana in the vicinity of a school, and Michael Ray Hankins, of Vinemont, Alabama, is charged with possession of schedule 3 narcotics and possession of marijuana. All five were transported to the Belmont County Jail.

Officials believe the marijuana may have been purchased in Colorado.

The St. Clairsville Police Department and Belmont County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the bust.

The investigation is currently ongoing and more charges and arrest could follow.
