Police Search for Armed Bank Robber in Jefferson County


 Police are searching for a suspect wanted for an armed bank robbery in Jefferson County.

According to police, the suspect robbed the Steubenville PNC Bank with a handgun just after 9:00 a.m., Wednesday.

“(The suspect) produced a small silver handgun and demanded money. Fled the scene on foot behind the bank in the alley. Steubeville Police, OSP, Sheriff’s department checked the area extensively, could not locate the subject. (He) probably had a getaways car in one of the side streets,” said Steubenville Police Chief William McCafferty.

Police say the suspect they are looking for is a white male, 6’2″ with a thin build. Officials say they believe the suspect got away in a car after running away from the bank.
