The polls have opened in Weirton for early voting for April’s primary election. On the 2015 City Election ballot, residents can vote for the next mayor, city council seats and two levies.
Current Mayor George Kondik is facing off against Nicholas Fuscardo, Harold “Bubba” Miller, and Karen Harris.
Early voting started Wednesday and runs until April 4, but Kondik said it’s important that residents get out early and cast their vote before the April 7 election day.
“It’s important because we need the votes,” Kondik said. “We need the people to go out and show the community that we are serious about who we elect for city government.”
Residents who are interested in early voting can stop by room 205 in the Municipal Building to cast their vote anytime Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The office will also be open on Saturday, April 4.
Those who are unable to make it in person can fill out an absentee ballot which can be picked up at the city clerk’s office or on the Secretary of State’s website.
