U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), shook hands and briefly chatted with Prince Charles at a British Embassy reception Wednesday.

Other attendees included U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Jesse Jackson, and retired journalist Tom Brokaw among others.

The reception was part of the Prince and Duchess of Cornwall’s visit to the U.S. capital.

According to The Associated Press, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall began Thursday with a visit to the U.S. Armed Forces Retirement Home, where residents lined the corridors waiting for the royal couple. They stopped and chatted with residents one by one.

The couple went to different locations after the morning event. Prince Charles visited a charter school for adult immigrants while his wife Camilla toured a forensic sciences center.

Before departing Washington, the couple will meet with President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House before a number of other events.  This trip marks Prince Charles’ 20th visit to the U.S.
