Quaker Steak and Lube at the Highlands wanted to give back to first responders who put their lives on the line in attempts to save a family lost in a tragic fire in Wheeling last week.
Manager Christine McNickle Thomas wanted to invite first responders for free lunch to say thank you for their efforts.
“I feel it’s important to give back to them because they put their lives on the line every day to protect the community,” said McNickle Thomas.
“We appreciate this. It’s a very kind gesture,” said Assistant Fire Chief Larry Murphy. “It means a lot.”
Quaker Steak also plans to honor those who serve or have served in the armed forces for Veteran’s Day this Friday with a free meal.
