Rallies and marches were held Wednesday at ArcelorMittal facilities in four states, including West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana.
In Weirton, hundreds gathered Union 2911 to march for a fair contract.
As part of a National Day of Action for a fair contract with ArcelorMittal, members of USW Local 2911 in Weirton marched from the Union Hall to the administrative building.
Contract negotiations have been going on since June.
Members said that their last resort is to strike.
“Our position is not to strike. Our position is try to get a fair contract that is satisfied for both sides. But if we have to, we have to,” said USW District 1 Representative Santo Santoro.
Members said that some of the items on the contract that they are upset with include the proposal to cut health care benefits on active and retired employees.
Both contracts are scheduled to expire on September 1st.
