Hancock County Prosecutor Jim Davis has filed a request for a special prosecutor to handle the investigation involving a Wellsburg Police Officer.
Davis said he is still waiting to hear back from the Prosecutor Institute and hopes to have a prosecutor provided by the end of next week.
Davis said they want a special prosecutor to look at the case so that they can take a clean, unbiased look at the case.
This will determine if Taylor White, the officer involved in the accident in New Cumberland, or anyone else, will face any charges.
If you’ll remember, White was involved in an accident on June 14 on Route 2 in New Cumberland. The unmarked police cruiser she was driving reportedly hydroplaned, crossed the center line, then hit a bench and flower box.
Courthouse cameras reportedly show White getting out of the car, looking at the damage, and then driving away. White reportedly then drove to Lieutenant Lester Skinner’s house after the accident.
Skinner reportedly asked a New Cumberland officer not to do an accident report.
A deputy asked Skinner if White had been drinking, and Skinner admitted she had consumed alcohol at his home.
