Rescued, Injured Dog Makes Big Recovery

Over the past few weeks our newsroom has flooded with calls from animal lovers all over the area asking about a dog named Dollar. He is the beagle mix that was hit by a car about two months ago.

Since then, Dollar has been receiving care at the K.E.Y. Animal Hospital in Wheeling. Although the dog suffered severe injuries, including a shattered pelvis, he has had speedy recovery and he is already up and running!

Hospital owner Dr. Karl Yurko says that while Dollar is still healing, he is getting better everyday.

“I’m sure he is a little bit sore and he tries to keep up with our dogs. I’m sure he gets a little bit sore at times but he keeps giving him some pain medicine for that as he needs it and he does really well and he doesn’t look like he is painful. He does a good job and he is very happy,” said Dr. Yurko.

Dr. Yurko says that with some physical therapy as well as some laser treatments, Dollar was on his feet within three days and walking within a week.
