“Reverse Trick or Treat” Food Drive Helps Those In Need

Center McMechen Elementary is teaming up with Bishop Donahue to collect food for those in need.

A few years ago, Center McMechen student Noah created a kind of “reverse trick-or-treat,” going door to door asking people for canned food donations because he saw a need within his school.

Monday, Bishop Donahue students joined the effort by walking the elementary students around the neighborhood to drop off donation bags.

“This is a really good, positive experience for them to have with these little kids. And for the little ones, the acknowledgement that there is hunger, and that it is really close to them, and that even though they’re little, they can do something,” said Amy Granato.

For anyone that found a donation bag on their doorstep on Monday the students will be collecting those bags this Saturday.
