If you have unused or unwanted prescriptions laying around the house, Saturday is the perfect day to safely get rid of them.

Riesbeck’s is teaming up with Cardinal Health to take back your unwanted drugs.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., local law enforcement and the DEA are collecting the pills at pharmacy locations in Bridgeport, Cambridge, Shadyside, St. Clairsville, Wintersville and South Zanesville.

The service is free and anonymous; no questions will be asked.

“We have officers at each location and once the event is over, they take them to a secure location and dispose of them properly. You don’t want them flushed in the toilets. That gets in our water. You know so that’s something we absolutely don’t want you to do. And again in your garbage, we have people going through the trash, people are desperate,” said Jane Dombroski.

It’s important to note that the DEA can’t accept liquids, needles or sharps; only pills or patches.
