One of the biggest charity events in Wheeling is one month away. Rock the Runway is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday, May 14 at the Wheeling Park Ice Rink.
7News anchors Laurie Conway and Tate Blanchard are among the 57 models that will be wearing 70’s-inspired fashions as they walk down the energetic runway with music. The event is modeled after a New York-style runway show and includes an open bar with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for an hour and a half before the show starts.
Tickets are $40 and can be purchased from any of the models or at the YWCA, which is where all of the money that is raised will go. Organizer Bob Bailey, of As You Like It Catering, said the “Y” has always been a cause he has supported, especially because of the domestic violence prevention program.
“If you start in high school at John Marshall and at Park, in teaching people- men that it’s wrong, women that it’s wrong, I think that’s just huge,” Bailey said. “And start early, before it’s too late for a lot of people. So I think that’s really important.”
Two guest models, Ray Zellars, Former Fullback of the New Orleans Saints and Stephon Tuitt, Defensive End, Pittsburgh Steelers will also be a part of the show.
After the event, there will be a cash bar, and the dance floor will be open and illuminated with disco balls.
Over 600 people are expected to attend the event and tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the show.
