Route 2 Reopened After Chemical Spill


UPDATE: Wednesday, May 25, 2016 – 4:30 p.m.

Route 2 is now reopened from Paden City to New Martinsville.

Earlier Wednesday, a truck leaked hydrochloric acid onto the roadway, causing the road to be shut down for nearly two hours for crews to clean up the chemical.

Route 2 is shut down from Paden City to New Martinsville.

According to Police Chief Tim Cecil, a truck was leaking hydrochloric acid onto the road near Route 180 near Paden City.

Officials say the road will be shut down indefinitely as crews work on cleaning up the chemicals.
