Over 200 people were in attendance for Show of Hands Wednesday night raising over $1,100 at the door and the winner walked away with a check for $3,145.
The event was held at the Wheeling Artisan Center, which is a change of venue from where it has taken place previously, the Capitol Theatre Ballroom.
The winner was the Russell Nesbitt Greenhouse Operation and they plan to open a greenhouse and garden center to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
“We’re going to employ 20 to 25 people with disabilities, we want to become the premiere employment opportunity for people with disabilities in the Wheeling community. Wheeling has always been known to support people with disabilities and just because the state of West Virginia fails in that part, we want to be the best,” said Russell Nesbitt Executive Director, Brain Bryer.
Russell Nesbitt expects to have the garden center open by the Spring at 2600 Main Street in Wheeling.
